HEADSHOTS THAT SPEAK VOLUMES!

I had the great pleasure to work with Rick to update his headshots for his milestones in his career. He has been leader in the textile industry for 25 years, which is an accomplishment in itself!

We felt that his images needed to capture the essence of his business, which has a fashion-forward feel. Thus, when I saw the orange curtains, I loved the color playing off the blue in his clothing. It think that we hit the right tone with this one!

After the session, here is what he and his wife had to say about our portrait experience:

Often when working with vendors in our business, we find ourselves compromising between a great experience vs. a superior quality of work. That was far from the case when we were lucky enough to work with Juli Kaplan. When we needed photographs taken for a company press release; Juli not only was incredibly accommodating and easy to work but she provided us with amazing photo’s! Juli came to the shoot with lots of great suggestions for both traditional and creative shots, which ultimately gave us lots of choices for our final product. WHO SAYS ALL HEADSHOTS ARE HUMAN?

One of my great passions is working with animals, especially horses and dogs. I love to capture their essence, and bring them to life! And, working with animals is very different that corporate headshots.

One must be aware that an animal may be fearful of the new surroundings of a studio, the flash of “lightening,” and just in close surroundings with a new person.

I take my time to acclimate my models, have their owners nearby, and have plenty of treats, as well as distractions, at my disposal. You just never know what may appeal or lose its appeal to position the head as you wish.

I frequently travel to stables to photograph horses and, as any horse lover will tell you, the owner ADORES a professional image of their beautiful equine.

Studio equipment or location images. And we have an incredible session with you and your “baby.”

Just earned my Master Photographer Degree with Professional Photographers of America!!!!

Friends, many of you know how hard I have worked to further my education and knowledge of being a portrait photographer. This is been a long journey, which began with my earning my Certified Professional Photographer degree a couple of years ago.

This Spring, 2 of my images were accepted and published in Professional Photographers of America’s prestigious Loan Collection Book. I was overjoyed with gratitude of those who have supported me as clients, friends, and family.

This week, I learned that I have also earned my Master Photographer Degree, which has taken several years to achieve. I feel very honored to receive this honor and will walk the stage at our national convention in January to accept this great honor. Thank you for your support!

JUST FOR FUN!

Anyone that knows me knows how much I adore animals! I have photographed dogs and horses extensively. And it isn’t everyday that I have the great pleasure of working with a Sphynx Cat!

This pretty girl knew how to pose as she relished in her portrait session in my studio. And if you know cats, they are more independent than dogs and horses. So this was a great session to capture this type of image.
